234 on 6.1
423 on 140 Ripley - Alfreton - Crich - Matlock*
447 on 17 evening journeys Chesterfield to Matlock

* Its exactly 23 years since Trent last operated this route through Crich, although pre deregulation it was numbered 240 and ran Mansfield - Alfreton - Matlock.

Have these vehicles had the extra destinations fitted for these routes then?

In the case of 447 which is often in Matlock there was no problem in showing '17 Matlock', but towards Chesterfield it was showing '17 Red Arrow Chesterfield'.

423 showed '140 - BLANK' all day which was not so good.  It definately showed Matlock on the blind last week when it was on the 6.1.

trent have ran two routes through crich since deregualtion, the B1 sundays and bank holiday mondays operated out of derby, was work by a DAF national and the 135 operated out of belper on mondays to saturdays operated under contract to derbyshire county council, the contract was won off hulleys, this again used to be work by a DAF national or a DAF optare Smile

447 did the 8:50? 6.1 ex Derby.

448 was in use to, on the 71 i believe.  930 and 938 parked in Belper.

939 Ilkeston Flyer.

225 TP.

447 did 6.1's along with 448 until 3.50, when 234 replaced 447 so it could go off & do the late 17's. This involves doing the last round trip on the 140, hence the bus change was needed (trust me, its a tight squeeze round Lea & Holloway, so I can see it being fun & games for Yourbus with their Volvo B10B's!)

930 was the bus used on the 71 all day

256 was the first Amberline Excel into service, & looks very smart indeed. Also of note is the side & rear blinds are now LEDs, like 254. Interesting that the side & rear have been done, but the front ones are still roller blinds - is there any particular reason for this or is it just to save cash?

With regards 423 being on 140's, it does have 'Matlock' on the blind, so I was a little disappointed that more effort wasn't made to find it.

One thing that did frustrate me a little yesterday is that Trent have produced some pretty decent-standard supplement timetables for the enhanced Sunday services on the 6.1/3, but there is no readily available information on the buses about the 17/140/215, which would be ideal for those unfamiliar with the timetable.

Finally, a query for someone in the know. Will Stagecoach tickets issued on the daytime 17 journeys be vaild on the two Trent Barton-operated evening journeys, as there was quite a bit of uncertainty for both the driver & the numerous passengers who got on the 19:20 departure from Matlock with Stagecoach returns

I am surprised that 'the really good bus company' had not briefed their drivers properly.
Derbyshire County Council bus timetables state: 'On these contract journeys valid day return tickets for that service, issued by ANY operator, can be used.
I checked a Stagecoach 140 faretable last night and that clearly states to accept returns issued on 140, 141, 142 and even a Doyles Weekly Ticket.

Yes, I thought that to be the case, so I was somewhat surprised by that one. Any ideas what fares/tickets (such as day/weekly tickets) are offered on Yourbus' 140/1/2 services?

While I remember, Guy, was it you who took a photo of 423 in Crich on the first 140 journey? I did notice quite a few people taking photos between Alfreton & Matlock

I have not been cheeky enough to ask for a £2 day ticket that is advertised on the rear / nearside and inside of the 81/82 branded Darts that have been used all week so far on the 140/1/2.  If they have a day ticket it will not be that cheap?

It was not me at Crich, though I have seen pics on the web taken of the 2nd journey through Crich.
