138 was on Ilkeston Town Services, displaying the route numbers on printed sheets of paper, does it not have full numeral tracks?
...Handle fell off on the 2nd run...
Edit: Also, those weren't printed... they were 'hand made' with marker pen, co-op's cheapest lined paper pad, and all the skills of a top quality artist.

That's REAL quality...especially from the really good bus company!
At the end of the day, N+D is not Trent - and doesn't pretend to be. It's a seperate company managed in a different way, and is good at what it does in it's own right.
Even so - no matter how well the company is run, with buses the age of the paladins - stuff IS going to go wrong every now and again. It can't be avoided in this industry.
Rather than waste an hour, drop runs, and go back to the depot to retrieve another bus, 'temporary' numbers were used - which did the job absolutely fine, and displayed everything that was needed to display...
It's easy to make a problem out of nothing when you can only see one side of the situation...
